Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

ADMINISTER RECTAL CONTRAST MEDIA FOR CT SCAN DURING WEEKEND

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this circular is to inform all medical officers,radiographers and nurses regarding administering rectal contrast media for CT scan during the weekend

BACKGROUND

During the weekend, staff nurses of the Department of Radiology only on-call for interventional cases only. There was an issue where the staff nurses from wards refused to administer rectal contrast for urgent CT scan cases      

DECISION

As discussed in the departmental meeting, starting 11/6/2021:

  • Rectal contrast will be prepared by the radiographer in charge doing CT scan
  • Rectal contrast to be administered by SN in charge of the case (from the ward)
  • Medical officers on-call to inform the managing team to send patients for CT scan with nurses/staff who will administer the rectal contrast. Our department only has SN on-call for interventional cases.

 

All staff are kindly requested to obey this decision.
